Good article… Neil is right about the registering expired domains. They can have penalties and google has been putting timestamps on inbound links, so I’d say, avoid them for those reasons.

The good part is that a lot of good domains are now available.

Registered domains are a useful way of getting traffic or getting an idea of knowing what Domain to use.

Registering expired domains is not a good way to get traffic. Google resets the pagerank of any domain where ownership has changed, and the Open Directory Project (who provide data to Yahoo, Google and many others) remove domains that are about to expire.

By the way, you’ve got 300+ validation errors on that page and the site doesn’t render properly in Mozilla.
