Waiter, Is that a Nail in my Soup?

Back in 2003, I went to the Forum Restaurant. It was an expensive place which is located in Causeway Bay and has a speciality for Abalone’s.
Inside you’ll find the restaurant decorated with paintings, jade sculptures and plaques of Yeung Koon Yat, the owner and “World Master of Culinary Arts 2002″.
We found the food to be [...]

Krispy Kreme

Krispy Kreme launched earlier this year in Causeway Bay and another in Soho, and thought it was worth a mention.
It wasn’t so long ago when you could go into a Krispy Kreme and get a free “sample” glazed donut. I thought this was a great idea as it makes you feel bad if you don’t [...]

Hong Kong Email Spying?

Over the weekend I noticed that I couldn’t send out any emails from my email accounts.
Thinking it was something I did, I kept on checking until the error log showed that the problem was from my ISP, I-Cable.
A phone call today revealed that the Hong Kong Government now has passed a law for “Anti Spamming”, [...]

Wind Farms eh?

It’s surprising with all the fuss kicked up about the increasing levels of pollution, that action is being taken…sort of. Hong Kong Electric are looking into building the city’s first wind farm.
There’s already a wind turbine on Lamma Island, so wondering how effective it will all be. Of course it could all be just hot [...]

Jackie’s Jumping on the Bandwagon?

It’s been reported that Jackie Chan will give half his fortune to charity, following in the footsteps of Warren Buffet and Bill Gates…
It’s great he’s doing it, but what timing! I guess with all the positive press Buffet and Gates received, it makes sense for Jackie to state the same also.
Jackie is worth about $1 [...]

World Cup Fever…hmm not really!

I was going to wait and see what happens, but noticed no changes to the way people in HK regard the World Cup. Back home in England, all the talk would be about football in the newspapers and tv 24/7. Of course, HK don’t have a team good enough (hehe) to be involved in such a [...]

Internal Affairs Film becomes The Departed

Many years ago I read that Brad Pitt’s Production Company bought the rights to the HK smash film Internal Affairs. Now I’ve read news that Leonardo DiCaprio and Matt Damon, who star in newly titled “The Departed” will come to HK to film and promote it later on. The film will be directed by Martin [...]

Tiananmen Remembered

Down in Victoria Park, it’s estimated 40,000+ people showed up to mark the 17th anniversary of the killings in Tiananmen Square last year.
I didn’t manage to show up this year, but went last year to see what was going on. I remembered it was quite peaceful and as most people were carrying lighted candles, it [...]

Cathay Pacific to take over Dragon Air?

I guess it was bound to happen, small fry in a big fish world.
By Cathay Pacific Airways closing a deal to take over smaller rival Dragon Air, it’ll benefit from access to routes between Hong Kong and mainland China.
Wondering if my Dragon Air points will be safe!

100 sq feet living

Came across this Photography link, showing how people live on a Public Housing Estate. The room sizes are 100 sq living, most contain one or two people. It’s pretty bad, the state of some of these apartments are terrible – makes you think that living in a prison cell would be luxury!
