The programmes that are on our screens over here range from 24, CSI to Queer Eye for The Straight Guy – which are pretty good. The thing I’m disappointed by is the Local News, more importantly the newscasters. I think TVB Pearl is the worst offender with their ugly gweillio presenters which makes me think the only reason they came to HK was that they were rejected in their home country and/or are related to the show producers…
I guess I expect a bit more from my programmes over here, especially where programmes are sponsored by the likes of Rolex or a fancy hotel.
I made my comments clear in a open comments forum about the BBC and see that they’ve published my views.
The most interesting are the TV ads. Whether it’s the obvious Public Service Adverts reminding you to cook your food properly to Face Whitening Creams. Whilst most guys are crazy about Joey (Jo Jo?), I’ve become more interested in Karen Mok – a lovely canto-singer/actress (I guess?) who is always on our screens advertising the likes of shampoo, toothpaste, bathwash and makeup.

I meant is she the rabbit-faced one in all those ads? She looks different in the picture – maybe because she’s not swishing her hair around or making goofy faces in a mirror. Anyway, she will not be up for Totty of the Month.

Yes she does remind me of a rabbit in some of her ads and actually noticed that the tops of front teeth are a bit brown – even though she promotes toothpaste (I’m picky, I notice these things!). It hasn’t put me off though!

TVB and ATV’s news budget is miniscule.
