Chinese Secrets
After living in Hong Kong/China for a while, I’ve found out the following “secrets”:
- Chinese people usually select their English name around school age and from my experience, choosing the most old-fashioned names that are available
- The long stringy facial hair attached to moles that many people “sport” is considered lucky and is rarely removed.
- The secret of cooking rice is to pour the level of water up to the middle of your small finger.
Anyone know of anymore?

Said this at 2:22am:I am not sure this is Chinese or Malaysian but when going to bed in a foreign place, flip one slipper over and leave the other one to ward off ahem, “dirty things”.
BTW, that thing about the mole is pretty gross. Sad to say it’s true…god forbid if i have any, it will be long plucked!

Said this at 12:27am:Yeah what Yi-vern said is right….and also another one is when you have ever slept on a bed who doesn’t belong to you, (eg. bed in hotel) when you leave you have to touch the bed with your hands, and then touch your body or face….that’s also mean good luck, have good life going on etc….is weird…but my grandma did that to me when I was kid.

I suppose that’s a good way of collecting bed bugs…
